Each has two buttons on the handle, one marked with a circle and the other with an X; the circle button causes a green light to appear at the tip of the wand and will turn the Barge passenger the wand is pointed at into a cat for up to one hour. The X button causes a red light to appear at the tip of the wand and will reverse the transformation of the Barge passenger that the wand is pointed at.
The transformation lasts for up to one hour, either wand can reverse it regardless of which one originally caused it, and it will not affect the mind of the transformed individual.
There is a small note attached to the wands that reads, The cats will not be invulnerable, but cats are fast.]
