It will be possible to create a replica barge in the Enclosure, but if it's fully matched to the real ship the Engine Room will be locked and be unopenable without a warden key! (Inhabited cabins will also be inaccessible on the replica.) If they ask for a replica barge but just different enough to get into the Engine Room without a key one way or another, they will get a 'Request Unclear, Please Clarify" message on the keypad and the Enclosure door simply won't open.
On the other hand, if they ask for the Enclosure to open onto a perfect replica of the engine room specifically, that will work - but the Enclosure door will take the place of the Engine Room's usual door, and they won't be able to use it to exit onto the rest of a replica ship. In all cases, the Enclosure will take a few seconds longer than usual to render and open onto these requests, like whatever is fulfulling them is somewhat reluctant about the entire process, or perhaps as though the replica is difficult or confusing for it.
However, if they beg, steal, or bargain for the use of a real engine room key, it will work on the replica, and if they try to prop the replica door open with a doorstop and bring up the same continuous simulation afterwards, that will work and allow them to access it without the key for subsequent long-term experiments.
[OOCly, we want to re-iterate that while we want to allow some fun things to happen with this (and there are a few things they might find out depending on what they do with the replica) the majority of the barge's inner workings are going to remain opaque. In general, characters won't be able to significantly effect the setting outside of Big Huge Events that we don't do very often.]
