Character Name: Dr. Clement Varker Character Journal:cameclosest Status: Inmate Pairing Information: Varker comes to the Barge less than 48 hours after his entire life has been upended and destroyed by his long time best friend and recently fired Dr. Simon Birkov. Once having been a rather handsome, successful scientist and CEO of a large company, his employee base has been culled from hundreds to two and his body has been violently and involuntarily changed. The last terrible moment of the worst day of his life ended when his life partner of 20 years, also horribly changed, attempted to kill them both to end their suffering and pay for Simon's sins.
The kicker is that regardless of how much Varker could talk himself out of responsibility, he'd been watching Birkov descend into madness for years and did absolutely nothing to either help or stop his friend from turning grief into obsession.
Varker has a lot of terrible things that he is ignoring that needs to be processed and accepted before he can even start to believe that his future exists as anything but misery, let alone believing that he deserves that to change.
Keep in mind that Varker is incredibly off-putting while he's struggling with self-hatred, doesn't want to talk about it unless he thinks you might truly understand all that he's gone through, and is incredibly distrustful of weird things and nonhumans.
