i have a question about character ages! ava here is a sort of fringe case as she's an android – in the movie when she's asked how old she is, she says she's "one" and when she's prompted to specify if she means years or days or something else, she just repeats "one." that being said, though, she has the appearance of a grown woman (her actress was about 23-24 at the time of filming) and was made with unlimited access to bluebook (the movie's fictional equivalent of google), meaning that she has a robust understanding of the world even if she's never really experienced it (because she's been trapped in one room her whole 'life', such as it is). she definitely demonstrates the ability to think and act as an adult in the movie so i don't think she could be considered a child, BUT i'm not sure if that counts as being over 18 and therefore an appable character.
