TLV - Admiral Requests

ADMIRAL REQUESTS

New Admiral Request Page Found Here

Post your requests to the Admiral below (and also a note if you would specifically like that request to be rejected), and we will get to them in a timely manner. All Admiral requests (with the exception of Inmate resurrections) must go through this post, and their approval cannot be handwaved. Additionally, requests will only be granted to Wardens.

Unless otherwise specifically noted, all threads on this post are considered to be Private.

Though the Barge does not speak in any traditional way and is not reachable by communicator, it is sentient, and characters occasionally reach out to it via tapping on walls in Morse Code, spelling out messages in alphabet-letter fridge magnets, and other creative methods; if your character decides to try this, those messages may be dropped here as well!

Vincent's Breadcrumbs (Narrenshchiff Plot)

[personal profile] coffinturk 2024-10-06 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Using the time allotted, Vincent will set about a few tasks.

First, he will quietly appropriate two chorebots. Both have had googly eyes stuck to them. Surely a clever disguise.

More seriously though, he won't move so far off that it's suspicious to any tracking or watching. One of the chore bots will be instructed to stay hidden and if the Barge or its true representatives shows up, relay a message to the Admiral: ]

This is Vincent Valentine. Boat capsized. We survived. Individual who called himself the Cap'n claimed you sent him to pick us up while you continued repairs on the Barge.

[ He will name the vessel if he can find out before boarding by listening in to another conversation, or talk to a member of the Crew. At most he would take a picture to give to the chorebot and/or instruct it to remember identifying features. ]

Circumstances are highly suspicious. I will bring another robot with me. Hopefully you can use their network to contact or track us. Sorry, I know it's a long shot. But, options limited. I'm also instructing the chorebot in a key for coded messages I'll be able to understand if there are other options to send messages with.

[ Included will an effort to convey what the network ID/ID equivalent of the chorebot he takes with is. If this can't be found he'll ask the stay-behind bot to make note of the ID for the chorebot he takes with.

He will also leave a key in the needle-in-a-haystack chance it is useful to send encoded messages over other 'open broadcast' means. ]

[ ooc: TL;DR. Vincent attempts to hide a chorebot with a message for the Admiral. Message includes:
1. as above
2. Networkd IDs of the two chorebots being used in case they can be jury rigged into walkie talkies somehow.
3. In case that's just not a good option, a key from his past as a Turk to send coded messages through other sources. ]

Beep boop

[ Vincent will also try to A) run the new string through the key. and B) reverse the original sequence to see if that runs through the key coherently. However if this is still gibberish:

1. He will tell the chorebot quietly to transmit a message using the same key back (if possible). 'Could not decipher. Error in transmission. If this comes through intact, respond with one short, one long beep.'

2. This serves the duo purpose of A) trying to determine if the error is receive and transmit or just receive and B) if it ends up gibberish, informing the sender that there is in fact a problem.

3. MEANWHILE he will be quietly looking to round up Bargezian cryptographers to see if the second string means anything to them. More on that as I get it posted. ]

Recordkeeping Reasons

[personal profile] coffinturk 2024-10-18 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
SO this is just a synopsis of handwavey stuff done. TL;DR - Got sick iRL so stalled, but many loosely agreed that they were in the process of working on Vincent's side when the Admiral managed to patch through more clearly! Yay! If there's anything need to know beyond this feel free but otherwise, no need to respond, this is as subject said, a recordkeeping response.

(From plurk:

1. Through Aerith or through someone Aerith contacted, Vincent looked for people that could potentially boost the chorebot's signal or potentially make sure a scrambled code wasn't in fact a code on its own.

2. All in keeping for those that contacted Vinny.

3. Basically Vincent would have explained that he would like to try to boost signal. And he would have presented the original string and the processed string (not the key that turned String A to String B), he would not have detailed anything about that to the codebreakers.

AND 4. he would have fully admitted that this may be a matter of not getting the full string at all, or it got scrambled in transmission.
