TLV - Admiral Requests

ADMIRAL REQUESTS

New Admiral Request Page Found Here

Post your requests to the Admiral below (and also a note if you would specifically like that request to be rejected), and we will get to them in a timely manner. All Admiral requests (with the exception of Inmate resurrections) must go through this post, and their approval cannot be handwaved. Additionally, requests will only be granted to Wardens.

Unless otherwise specifically noted, all threads on this post are considered to be Private.

Though the Barge does not speak in any traditional way and is not reachable by communicator, it is sentient, and characters occasionally reach out to it via tapping on walls in Morse Code, spelling out messages in alphabet-letter fridge magnets, and other creative methods; if your character decides to try this, those messages may be dropped here as well!

[See, Admiral, this is why she's so conflicted about you.]

How are you defining 'necessary', exactly? Sure, a desperately violent new inmate - or warden, for that matter - won't break the Barge. But they'll hurt people. That doesn't matter to you, even if it would be easy to stop?

And if they get acclimated by tearing a bloody swathe through the ship, that's fine? One of the people maimed or killed could be my inmate. Or I could be paired to the attacker, for that matter.

But if we're going there, how about the people who aren't paired yet? Why shouldn't we do our best to protect all inmates? [Yeah, the latest traumatic shenanigans are making her angrier than usual. The bitter helplessness isn't overwhelming her now, but it's raw and vivid in her mind.]

I try really hard to understand the crap you put us through. I try to accept that there are things about the Barge I just can't change. But if you can't even allow this, when it could make people just a little safer, then why the hell do you even do this?

[Firmly - ] That's still too many to just ignore.

I'm not talking about hunting. I'm talking about intervention. Violence and threats don't need to be the first resort. If you can't trust us with that, why are we even wardens?

[She closes her eyes, for a moment, trying to reign in - everything. Just because she has her fire back doesn't mean she can let it burn wildly.] I've got - some kind of idea of the balance you try to make, here. Freedom and safety, right? And I know it's hard. But maybe if you gave us more tools to use, if you trusted us to use them well, it would be easier.

[Jean takes a deep breath and squares her shoulders.] First of all, you're the reason inmates have so little control, so don't lecture me about it.

Second - the point would be to greet them. One on one, ideally. Knock on their door and try to make them feel safe. Try to explain to them what's happened. If they don't want to hear it, if we're doing more harm than good, they can kick us out.
