TLV - Admiral Requests
Post your requests to the Admiral below (and also a note if you would specifically like that request to be rejected), and we will get to them in a timely manner. All Admiral requests (with the exception of Inmate resurrections) must go through this post, and their approval cannot be handwaved. Additionally, requests will only be granted to Wardens.
Unless otherwise specifically noted, all threads on this post are considered to be Private.
Though the Barge does not speak in any traditional way and is not reachable by communicator, it is sentient, and characters occasionally reach out to it via tapping on walls in Morse Code, spelling out messages in alphabet-letter fridge magnets, and other creative methods; if your character decides to try this, those messages may be dropped here as well!

Uh ...
Weird.
And not currently the point of the conversation. Just .. wow. ]
I understand your position, sir but I believe you answered your own concern. As you say Zero is a last resort, panic button, anti-magic drunk tank and sometimes an Inmate requires a full week stay in order to cool down.
Sometimes an Inmate needs to stay in Zero for their own protection, or else we're going to spiral into a series of revenge murders until someone can get ahead of the cycle.
Having a shower there for instances like the aforementioned shouldn't be too much of a strain on resources? We're not advocating for each cell to have a personal en suite bathroom or an oversized whirlpool tub. A simple shower head, a curtain and a drain. Is that unreasonable?

It is arbitrary, after all. Are so many spirals really stopped in seven days that couldn't be stopped in three or four, with a bit more legwork on wardens' parts?
[The admiral sighs.]
But no, no, it isn't unreasonable. I'll consider it. We aren't in pressing need, are we?

If you decide to move forward with the request, I would direct you to coordinate with Warden Pagan. I told him I would get back to him with the result of our conversation but if you wish to wait for a final determination, he will be your point of contact going forward.

When Inmates are incarcerated in Zero they should have a reasonable amount of reassurance that the people assigned to watch over them can protect them. As has been made clear to me, I lack both the experiences and the skills to provide that basic necessity.
I have seen requests for help with food service. I do have a great deal of faith in my ability to peel a potato.

But regardless, Zero is also an equalizer. Wardens are needed to monitor for numerous reasons, none of which are the bodily protection of inmates. Once in a cell, they cannot get out without the sentencing warden or zero warden's item, and no one else can get in. Even if they could, they would be reduced to a human baseline just the same.
Truthfully, the kitchens do seem higher need at present. But I do restrict certain positions to wardens of necessary skills. You should know I do not find you lacking.

Not your problem. Not your monkey or your circus anymo.... fuck it. ]
Admiral,
I genuinely do respect and appreciate your view on Zero as something temporary and I would like to believe that most Wardens share your point of view. In my brief time here I have no seen a single Warden toss their Inmate into Zero simply for the sake of convenience. In that respect I'd like to believe that Zero continues to work as you perceive.
I also believe that there is a fine line walked by Zero. It should not be an aspiration for either Wardens or Inmates but I have seen -all too often- where incarcerations' of that sort can deliver a final blow to an already hopeless psyche.
A lot of the Inmates see Zero as being abandoned. As being worth neither the effort of a proper punishment, or of understanding from anyone other than other Inmates who encourage negative behavior. In my time as a warden for the area I always deferred to the sentencing warden but tried to make it clear that the Inmates were not being tossed in a hole and forgotten by the system.
Not being forgotten by the Wardens.
Warden Pagan has been on both sides of the bars. His suggestions for basic humanitarian rights are reasonable ones, Sir. I hope you will give them serious consideration. Zero doesn't have to be an Inmate 'safe space' but it should be humane and it should be part of the solution. Not a wasteland.

But do let me reassure you, dear, I'm quite proud of all our graduates, Mr. Min included. If he had been the one to submit this proposal, I wouldn't look on it any differently.
It's a tricky spot to restructure, by nature of the power restrictions, but if we have a sudden rush on the cells I'll be sure to bump the priority, shall I?

Thank you, Admiral. I appreciate you being willing to take the request under consideration.
[ Tim also hopes that the vacant position in Zero won't stay vacant for long, because the Admiral is correct. Snack breaks are very important! ]

Do you know, those Lyfe Boats were a passenger suggestion, ages ago? I am trying to be...open to feedback. Which is to say - thank you as well. For taking your duty seriously, and making the case for it.
Alright, poppet, go peel potatoes. But do know you're welcome back any time.
