All Admiral requests (with the exception of Inmate resurrections) must go through this post, and their approval cannot be handwaved. Additionally, requests will only be granted to Wardens.

Unless otherwise specifically noted, all threads on this post are considered to be Private.

Though the Barge does not speak in any traditional way and is not reachable by communicator, it is sentient, and characters occasionally reach out to it via tapping on walls in Morse Code, spelling out messages in alphabet-letter fridge magnets, and other creative methods; if your character decides to try this, those messages may be dropped here as well!

So, two questions. One, what's the state of granting powers to temp Inmates? Figured I might as well check up on that as I don't think I've ever done that before. Two... [ siiiiiiiiiigh ] can you magically modify spiders?

Henry would like some black widow spiders that can't be controlled by Taylor. Obviously I'll give Taylor a heads-up no matter what spiders he gets and obviously there's no way in hell he's actually getting spiders that can kill people. But I figured hell, might as well ask, it's not like I know a damn thing about spiders in the first place.

[ YEAH HE KNOWS THIS IS A WEIRD QUESTION ]

At the moment, only permanent wardens can request powers be returned. If you feel a reduction is needed, however, that will be done.

I would suggest simply asking Tayler to forebear. She's a credit to the program, and it might benefit Mister Creel to practice some trust.

Alternatively, have you approached any of the other magic-users on board?

With all due respect, I don't think simply asking Taylor will work. Creel needs to practice trust, but there's no way in hell I'll gain that trust if him getting spiders is conditional on Taylor pinky-promising that she'll leave them alone—partly because there's no way in hell he'll trust Taylor to actually do that.

[ There's a pause as Dorian thinks things over before continuing with, ]

I don't know that man's specific trauma. But there's something about the act of being controlled that absolutely repulses him. So if I ask Taylor to lay off or I ask Dracula to make a magic spider, what's his first thought going to be? Taylor won't lay off, Dracula could easily unmake it, and at it's core this thing could still be controlled. It needs to come from the top brass, it needs to be unfuckable, or it'll only make things worse.

And no, a reduction in powers isn't needed.

I could also choose to revoke anything I provide. Am I so different from Mister Tepes? I would half suspect anything I gave him to be under greater suspicion, in terms of outside control.

And yet he was the one who told me to ask you for the spiders. This is his idea, babe. Not mine. I'm asking because I told him I would and because I think it's a good one.

Well, he is your inmate at present, but custom magic is trickier than simple material requests. Has his cabin surfaced yet?

I believe so.

He also offered up the fish spider as a non-venemous alternative if that makes things easier.
