TLV - Admiral Requests
Post your requests to the Admiral below (and also a note if you would specifically like that request to be rejected), and we will get to them in a timely manner. All Admiral requests (with the exception of Inmate resurrections) must go through this post, and their approval cannot be handwaved. Additionally, requests will only be granted to Wardens.
Unless otherwise specifically noted, all threads on this post are considered to be Private.
Though the Barge does not speak in any traditional way and is not reachable by communicator, it is sentient, and characters occasionally reach out to it via tapping on walls in Morse Code, spelling out messages in alphabet-letter fridge magnets, and other creative methods; if your character decides to try this, those messages may be dropped here as well!

You might think of them as... hazards of the journey.

I certainly grant you that they are hazards on our journey. What I'm less clear about is why we're not attempting to circumvent them, or perhaps develop some manner of shipwide defense against their effects.

Do you find them that intolerable?
no subject
For myself, no. I've been through plenty worse. But for the inmates, for those who are here to heal and grow beyond the suffering both inflicted and received that shaped their lives, it seems cruel to visit a whole new plethora of traumas upon them, especially as often as it happens. Is there nothing we can do to shield the crew from the worst effects of these phenomena, at the very least?

If you have any ideas about supporting the crew during them, do share.

[Bashir sighs, frustrated but no longer angry.]
I have a few, actually, but I suspect you're likely to say they're things we wardens ought to be handling ourselves. For your part, I was thinking more along the lines of some sort of reality shielding. Your technology appears to outstrip much of what's familiar to me, and I'm hardly an engineer to begin with, so I'm aware I may be speaking nonsense. And I'm further aware that it's altogether possible you've already got such a thing in place and it simply isn't enough to block everything out.
I just...can't stand idly by and allow those under our care to suffer further traumatic ordeals with such insidious regularity in a place where they're meant to be overcoming the past. There must be something we can do that isn't just managing the aftermath...
[Assuming, of course, that the point of the Barge is helping the inmates overcome the past and not punishing them until they break. Bashir's willing to extend the benefit of the doubt this far, at least. Which is why that last part has the subtle undertone of a plea to it.
He's never been any good at accepting that there might be ills that simply don't have cures.]

[A pause.]
No sea is without storms. To speak metaphorically. Managing the aftermath is a part of your job.
I am willing to support you if you do have ideas that the Wardens can manage.
