POTENTIAL APPLICATION DISCUSSION

Thinking about applying for a character, but not quite sure if they're a good fit? This post is dedicated to discussion of that very thing! A jury of your peers will help you in deciding whether or not a character you suddenly have a hankering for would be a fit for the Barge!

THIS IS NOT COMPULSORY. Nobody HAS to participate, and nobody HAS to post here before they post an application! This is just for people who are unsure and would like to have a discussion before they apply.

Please take the following into consideration when posting or replying here:

1. Mods are the final decision makers. Even if you get great feedback, player approval does not substitute mod approval. Even if a mod replies to your comment here telling you that they'd love to see the character and to go ahead and app, they're not making a promise to auto-approve your app once it's submitted.
2. This post is for constructive discussion. Even if your gut reaction is a simple "OMG YES" or "HELL NO", providing details and reasons for that reaction will always be more helpful to the player. In addition, please remain polite and civil at all times. Even if you take issue with a prospective character or the direction the player wants to take them in, flaming, insults, etc. will not be tolerated.
3. Avoid too much pre-plotting. Remember that this is all still theoretical, and the characters posted here haven't been apped or accepted into the game yet.
4. Don't take this personally. If people have concerns about the suitability of your character, or are unsure about some aspect of your comment (ex. the warden/inmate justification), it's not an attack on you or your RPing.

Put the character's name as the subject line (ONE CHARACTER PER COMMENT), and be sure to fill out the following form. Please do try to hit on all the points asked about here - this is all stuff we'd like you to keep in mind before you apply, and going into at least some level of detail will help spark meaningful discussion.

The Final Fantasy VII Compilation cast is at cap, and FFVII Compilation apps are currently closed. Discussing FFVII Compilation characters here is still welcome!

Hee, Nathan was the reason I got drawn into the show anyway (damn you Pasdar and your eyes and jawline and gravel voice and DAT ASS), and why I stayed with it long after the writers completely lost the plot and half the fandom had quit in disgust or was only watching for the lulz (especially with his character. I mean, after a while, the only reasonable comment to anything involving Nathan was "... wtf.") There were some small flashes of getting him back on track from time to time, but my hopes were always dashed. And then came Sythan and ...ugh. Can we fix it? No, it's fucked.

Canon is FUBAR. Apply roleplay and fic. (At least, that's how I see it.)

Nathan's biggest problem, the sin of Satan himself, is his pride. He has always been raised to see himself as the alpha in any situation and will accept nothing less, even when it's obviously not working out for him and he's ended in WAY over his head. And worst of all, it ALWAYS sounds like a good idea at the time - destroying the formula because man shouldn't play God, sharing the formula to better the human race, rounding up specials to protect everyone else, etc etc. He rationalises everything perfectly and doesn't stop to consider how it could all go shit-shaped and he'd be the one in the eye of the storm whether he deserved it or not.

yeah I gave up on the show halfway through the last season because god damn Sylar!Nathan was special despite it meaning extra Pasdar :9

But yeah, I love the kind of character who, while they realize that what they're doing is wrong, don't realize just how wrong it is or is going to get. So make him happen.

... I'm actually working on the application now, in fact - I have almost all of it figured out (bar being stuck on the RP sample, of ALL the times to get writers block! jfc.). I hope it passes muster. [eyetwitch]

... I've written and put up the application (bar the sample because my brain apparently had enough for today and mutinied, I'll edit it in when I can come with something that isn't refried crap. Hope the writers block goes away before next Sunday because sheesh).
