POTENTIAL APPLICATION DISCUSSION

Thinking about applying for a character, but not quite sure if they're a good fit? This post is dedicated to discussion of that very thing! A jury of your peers will help you in deciding whether or not a character you suddenly have a hankering for would be a fit for the Barge!

THIS IS NOT COMPULSORY. Nobody HAS to participate, and nobody HAS to post here before they post an application! This is just for people who are unsure and would like to have a discussion before they apply.

Please take the following into consideration when posting or replying here:

1. Mods are the final decision makers. Even if you get great feedback, player approval does not substitute mod approval. Even if a mod replies to your comment here telling you that they'd love to see the character and to go ahead and app, they're not making a promise to auto-approve your app once it's submitted.
2. This post is for constructive discussion. Even if your gut reaction is a simple "OMG YES" or "HELL NO", providing details and reasons for that reaction will always be more helpful to the player. In addition, please remain polite and civil at all times. Even if you take issue with a prospective character or the direction the player wants to take them in, flaming, insults, etc. will not be tolerated.
3. Avoid too much pre-plotting. Remember that this is all still theoretical, and the characters posted here haven't been apped or accepted into the game yet.
4. Don't take this personally. If people have concerns about the suitability of your character, or are unsure about some aspect of your comment (ex. the warden/inmate justification), it's not an attack on you or your RPing.

Put the character's name as the subject line (ONE CHARACTER PER COMMENT), and be sure to fill out the following form. Please do try to hit on all the points asked about here - this is all stuff we'd like you to keep in mind before you apply, and going into at least some level of detail will help spark meaningful discussion.

The Final Fantasy VII Compilation cast is at cap, and FFVII Compilation apps are currently closed. Discussing FFVII Compilation characters here is still welcome!

I don't know the show! But can confirm we've had the character here, once or twice and at least one of those times was on inmate status.

[snrk] Heaven help us all if he was a Warden - any time he's held a position of authority in canon it's gone straight to hell. Put him in charge of someone like Profit or Jonathan Crane or Lestat and it'll end horribly; I mean, he was regularly outsmarted by Danko, Matt, and pretty - but - not - too - bright Peter and Mohinder. Eesh.

(OT, I kind of want to see him hit on Sarah Connor and wake up ten minutes later with a sore jaw, wondering wtf just happened, why there's three of everything and why everyone is laughing their asses off. Hee hee.)

Also, I think male characters could make a pass at about 95% of the female cast now and have that happen. XD

Nathan's (other) biggest problem is that he isn't nearly as smart as he thinks he is, and doesn't expect to be outwitted by, well, utter morons. And yet... and yet - he always is. It gets depressing. Meanwhile pit him against someone like Angela Petrelli or Daniel Linderman and they'll tie him up in knots before he even opens his mouth. (Poor Angela must have been wondering where the hell it all went wrong with her boys every single day. No wonder she tried to adopt Sylar.)

Still, however often it happens, that particular set-up will never, EVER stop being funny. Especially since in canon he was a real ladykiller and boinked just about every blonde in sight. It should be a really rude awakening for him, lol.

See, I was just going to creep on this thread silently - sine I'm already tracking this post - but THEN you mention Lestat which totally gives me a viable excuse to say HI. :D

So... Sup! ^_^ Not Lestat's account, cuz I'm on phone, but same player!

I am totally ALL FOR the Nathan because the barge needs every Pasdar, ever. Seriously. Also, Lestat recently got all fangy with Jim so expect the usual 'Didnt I bite you?' awkwardness. Which everyone should have, right? Of course they should!

Pleasure to meet you! Don't worry, I've known about this comm for a couple of years now, and started lurking over the past few days (since the move here) to see whether it'd be worth apping Nathan or whether I should just run screaming.

That thread was kind of awesomely hilarious, it reminded me of all the times in canon when Jim manages to really piss people off and ends up with a fist in his face XD. And of all the people on the barge to annoy he picks LESTAT. ...Well, what did he expect?! Good thing Buffy was there to pry him off. (Another thread that made me laugh was Dean and Kay in Vegas. The snarky little comments on fear...)

And as for ALL the Pasdars... we could probably do without Declan Dunn completely because he's fucking insufferable (unless you just want to have him maimed all the time).

Alec Rybak from the (otherwise utterly crap) Lying Game, though, could fit right in as an inmate if someone apps him (he's like a cross between Nathan and Jim - as ruthless as Jim, as charming as Nathan, but without the Petrelli idiocy on board). Put the three of them to work together on something and watch it all implode because they're too busy going for each other's throats.

(Personally, if I get Nathan in and settled, I'm kind of thinking of going for either Walter Bishop or Claude Frollo next. Both as inmates, of course.)

Playing Lestat at his absolute bitchiest is WAY too much fun, seriously. And yes, Jim totally picked the wrong guy to snap at. Not like Lestat provoked or nothing but... psh, we'll say it was all Jim's fault.

I actually don't know either film (or show?) you mentioned there. I just luff Pasdar as the conniving jerk way too much.

UNF! I LOVE FROLLO! We had one waaay long ago, but they idled out too soon :|

I've learned that the hard way - there are FAR too many games out there that I would have applied for, except that I read a few logs, side eyed everyone involved, and hit the back button post haste, LOL.

I agree. He should have realised that could not possibly have ended well. Do not go poking the big bad vampire, silly Jim. XD

They're both TV shows, and they both prove that Pasdar has this uncanny knack for picking totally abysmal projects. It's like he's trolling us by now.

Mysterious Ways (where he played Declan Dunn) had a couple of good scenes here and there but was otherwise TERRIBLE, while The Lying Game (Alec Rybak) is yet another "twin swap" pile of crap from ABC Family (where you can practically see him giving up and phoning it in from his second appearance on LOL. And he's still the best actor on the show by MILES). And the less said about whatever that SyFy film with the prehistoric killer plants was called, the better. (... I needed post-series Nathan icons, don't judge.) Someone just needs to do a Profit follow-up already.

Frollo is a really, really difficult character - you have to make him a creeper and a fanatic and a racist and basically a truly monstrous person all around, but you can't take it too far or he'll just be too soulcrushing to play. But idk, I kind of enjoy the idea of him in the Barge. Three words: Frollo. In. Vegas. XD
