TLV - Inmate Ledger
Apr. 21st, 2022 01:42 pmThe inmate ledger is an automatically-updating compendium of every inmate on the ship. Each inmate gets a page of their own consisting of their name, their pairing status and the name of their (temporary or permanent) warden, their current job posting, a one-sentence informational blurb, and a blank space for wardens to jot down their own notes, observations, and warnings (this blank space will be small by default, but will expand and unfold as necessary, to the effect that it will be impossible for an inmate's page to run out of room). The inmate ledger lives in the warden conference room, the information in it is accessible to all wardens, and any warden will be able to record their thoughts on any inmate.
Informational blurbs are entirely player-chosen, and can consist of basically anything, provided that it's 1) technically true, and 2) reflective of the inmate's inmatehood in some way. They do not have to be comprehensive, nor do they have to be spoilery (unless you'd like them to be). If, for example, an inmate is a ruthless, backstabbing undercover spy who is an effortless liar and who has been responsible for the deaths of several former partners in crime, any of the following blurbs would be a valid option:

On the IC side of things: Attempts to film or photograph the inside of the lounge will show static on the receiving end, any hard copies (including photos and video) made of the information in the inmate ledger will erase themselves if they're removed from the room, and if anyone attempts to dismantle the chain and remove the ledger from the room, it'll blip out of their hands and back into its proper spot once they hit the hallway. Likewise, it's resistant to tampering and sabotage: pages can't be ripped out, nor can a warden erase, scribble over, or otherwise obfuscate any writing other than their own. If a warden is unable to read or write, the ledger will narrate any of its pages upon request, and its pen will autonomously write messages that are dictated to it. Upon an inmate's graduation, they will be able to take and keep their own page(s) from the ledger; if they choose not to, it will disappear.
On the OOC side of things: We'll ask each inmate player to make an entry in their character's journal, containing their inmate's one-sentence informational blurb in the post body (job and pairing info will be ICly accessible in the ledger, but will OOCly continue to have their own dedicated mod-maintained pages). Please leave the comments to this post open and unscreened, as this will function as the blank section of the inmate's ledger page where wardens can leave notes, observations, and warnings to each other about the inmate in question. Remember that the notes made in these comments will be ICly readable by all wardens and not ICly readable by any inmates, including the inmate in question.
