POTENTIAL APPLICATION DISCUSSION

Thinking about applying for a character, but not quite sure if they're a good fit? This post is dedicated to discussion of that very thing! A jury of your peers will help you in deciding whether or not a character you suddenly have a hankering for would be a fit for the Barge!

THIS IS NOT COMPULSORY. Nobody HAS to participate, and nobody HAS to post here before they post an application! This is just for people who are unsure and would like to have a discussion before they apply.

Please take the following into consideration when posting or replying here:

1. Mods are the final decision makers. Even if you get great feedback, player approval does not substitute mod approval. Even if a mod replies to your comment here telling you that they'd love to see the character and to go ahead and app, they're not making a promise to auto-approve your app once it's submitted.
2. This post is for constructive discussion. Even if your gut reaction is a simple "OMG YES" or "HELL NO", providing details and reasons for that reaction will always be more helpful to the player. In addition, please remain polite and civil at all times. Even if you take issue with a prospective character or the direction the player wants to take them in, flaming, insults, etc. will not be tolerated.
3. Avoid too much pre-plotting. Remember that this is all still theoretical, and the characters posted here haven't been apped or accepted into the game yet.
4. Don't take this personally. If people have concerns about the suitability of your character, or are unsure about some aspect of your comment (ex. the warden/inmate justification), it's not an attack on you or your RPing.

Do they meet all rules and requirements? Yes, I think so.
Do you think they will be active and interact with others? Yes! At least, if I can keep up. Which I think I can.
Would this character be active in ports and floods, or sit out? He would be as social as possible with me as a writer. Which I'm getting better with, so hopefully very. As for floods, I think he would be very active if possible. I tend to fit the flow of events and stuff like that even if it's not as exciting to me sometimes.
Why do you want them? I love my boy and I think he would be a great fit for here. I love the concept of this game and Makoto canonically helps people whenever he can so I think he would accept the Admiral's offer. Especially with the potential of those wishes...
Potential concerns: Other than my own concern with keeping up, which I'm feeling better after talking to the mods about AC, I worry people might find him boring. I don't want others to tag me out of obligation instead of genuine fun so feel free to let me know if there's ever anything I can change to make him more enjoyable.

Why do you want them? Spy has a lot of interesting points about him. Not much is known about the background of this man but I have personal head canons for this.
I love this character and while he can be considered an pompous ass by most he meets, he’s no doubt an interesting man of mystery
Potential concerns: Honest? I worry I’m going to just not get interaction. It’s happened the last time I joined a year or two back but I’m willing to put in the effort to get it! I look forward to seeing what’s cooking here

Would this character be active in ports and floods, or sit out? Fairly active, probably looking for a way to turn something to his advantage.
Why do you want them? Because he's a terrible person, but also kind of pathetic.
Potential concerns: He is eleven people and I'm daunted about how to write that. He's a Time Lord with a physical condition that makes it so that his other personalities don't go away when he regenerates. He's like if the Doctor were every Doctor, simultaneously. He argues with himself a lot. Like rapid fire back and forth sniping among his various selves.

Do you think they will be active and interact with others? Absolutely, as much as he possibly can, non turned individuals (normal people) and pureblooded vampires or werewolves are sacred to him.
Would this character be active in ports and floods, or sit out? Very active.
Why do you want them? I feel like despite his obsessive tendencies he truly wants to assist others. He would accept the Admirals offer both out of a sense of religious fervor and out of his desire to assist others.
Potential concerns: Around 3 years ago,when I first started Dreamwidth and knew nothing at all about any of the rules I tried to apply here and inadvertently plagiarized Wikipedia. It was my first time trying text based roleplay and I didn’t even know how to do brackets at the time. It was a grievous error, I am aware. I can provide current applications I have done of OC’s including ones with linked permissions and such now as a resume.

Hello, I’m a friend of Kyrja’s! She was new to DWRP when she first tried applying to TLV, and she’s successfully applied to a few games (expiationnet and caldera) since then! She understands how the accidental plagiarism happened and she’ll avoid doing that again. We’re currently in decadia together, and she’s learned a lot more about how DWRP works.

- IF YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW WHO THIS GUY IS: he is an MMO's final boss, in an era where they cared less about what an emotion was or what parts of the plot made sense and more about how many things could happen simultaneously that were metal as fuck. he's like if sauron could play electric guitar, and did so on screen. he's like if a guy who physically could not stop himself from drawing the buffest, most shirtless orcs of all time designed an Anakin Skywalker. sadist tops doing really intense BDSM scenes are trying to get in the headspace that arthas has not meaningfully left since 2002.

- oooggghhh he really deserves to be a Main for me, and moon knight is still my main(s) right now. he takes up a LOT of bandwidth to play correctly because he is very motivated to be a Fucking Nightmare at all possible times in all possible ways
- i am still not sure if people absolutely hated playing against this guy the first time, he was pretty intense
- will be upset with myself if i dont graduate him this time
- i straight up refuse to canon review the warcraft lore i missed since Legion, those guys are my enemies now (the people who write for this canon)

- this would mess with anduin pretty bad and arthas straight up doesn't know that because! this is CRAU arthas! he never went back to azeroth, he went to the Barge!

Unfortunately, we are going to hold a hard line re: the permadeath events, and anything that circumvents them falls into 'breaking the game' territory. TLV Arthas canonically is lost and cannot come back.

I have a question. You mentioned residents of the Nethermere. Would Arthas not count as a resident of the Nethermere not a permadeath character since he just got lost and ended up living there for 10 years? In that case the permadeath issue could be resolved. I believe he would count as one since he hadn’t actually died and was a resident. I don’t believe you can’t app Nethermere residents. Not sure but I liked chatting with his CRAU so it’d be cool if he could get in.

No. You are misunderstanding several aspects of the situation.

Arthas is not and never has been in the Nethermere. The event in which he was dropped in 2016 was completely different, with the only connection being that both included the option of a permadeath drop.

Arthas did die, in his version of canon events, in order to be appable to TLV in the first place.

Additionally, as the Nethermere is an original creation of the mods for this metaplot, in fact we would not accept any apps for a Nethermere resident. Both as an issue of game-breaking, and because there are no canon characters, and this is not any other player's universe to make OCs in.

Fire is a fantastic player and their Arthas is great, but maintaining the permadeath mechanic in the very rare instances that it is used is an issue of maintaining the stakes and the overall trustworthiness of cause and effect within the setting. It's absolutely fine to play some threads on the TDM and I'm glad you've enjoyed the character. However, our ruling on this is final.
