TLV - Character Applications

CHARACTER APPLICATIONS

Application periods are open all month, every month.

The Final Fantasy VII Compilation cast is at cap, and FFVII Compilation apps are currently closed.

Please read all rules and guidelines before submitting an application. Be sure to check the Taken Characters list and the Retired Characters list before posting an application here.

NOTES:
  1. After applying for a character, we ask that players allow 30 days before bringing their next character into the game. In some cases (warden or cast caps, upcoming major game events) players may approach the mod team and clear submitting an application a few days early, though it will not be approved before the 30 day mark.

  2. If you are applying into an existing cast, please be aware that we may speak to players of characters close to (any version of) the character, and will speak to the players of canonmates of the character for which you are applying. We reserve the right to reject an application if it would render a current character or characters unplayable in the opinion of their player(s). If your app is rejected for this reason, we ask that you respect the decision.

  3. Both samples may be taken from threads on the Test Drive Meme, as long as they are recent and match your application with respect to canonpoint and warden/inmate status. The TDM goes up once per month and is always marked on the Event Calendar. If you would prefer to write yours out and would like some inspiration, check out the Flood Event tag on the OOC community; you're welcome to write a sample based on your character's reaction after one of these events! Here are a few popular choices.

  4. Canons (or canonpoints, in the case of ongoing series) must have been out for at least 30 days before they can be applied for.

  5. If you're reapping a character that you previously dropped and you plan to have them retain their memories of their previous stint onboard, please include at least a few sentences discussing how their previous stay affected them, and noting any relevant changes to their personality, worldview, and motivations. The more significant the changes, the more detail we'd like.

I also noticed I made an error on his canon point. It should say immediately following the end of The Old Republic: Revan.

I believe he would make a good warden because he knows the value of second chances, having made the most of his own second chance. He still has his flaws but he has learned from his previous bad choices. He wants to pass on what he's learned through that and has only resisted doing so to keep peace with the Jedi Order.

His commitment to relationships showed when he redeemed Bastilla instead of killing her after she fell to the Dark Side. It showed again in his decision to follow a Force premonition of danger to the Republic not for the Republic's sake but to keep his unborn son and potential grandchildren from living through the war he believed was coming. When he could not prevent it completely, he used himself as a diversion to distract the Emperor from attack the Republic as long as he could. He volunteers to be a diversion for a Mando friend's clan even at risk of revealing to them that he was a Jedi.

He shows his conscience in the guilt he carries over ordering Meetra Surik to activate the prototype gravity superweapon, leading to not only the destruction of the enemy fleet but half of his own and his friend losing her access to the Force. He shows it again in his refusal to ever use another superweapon, even as a Sith. His creation of series of assassin droids during that time further emphasizes both a conscience, however distorted it was then, and the value he placed on life throughout his life. He further demonstrates his value for life when he discovers what the Emperor did to the planet Nathema. He showed horror not just at the absence of the Force but that someone would deliberately lead an entire planet of people to their deaths.

He hid his guilt over Meetra Surik when confronted by her former friend and accused of abandoning her over her loss of the Force. He claimed that he could not be held responsible as he was not the same person after the Jedi's brainwashing. However, as soon as he was alone again, he had to confront the guilt he truly felt over his part in that despite not being able to remember what he did or why.

He demonstrates a careful cunning while captured by a member of the Dark Counsel. He pretends to have had various Force Visions to gradually plant doubts in her body guard's mind. Eventually, he convinces said body guard to free him and help him fight the Sith Emperor.

I plan to keep Revan's basic Jedi abilities with the addition of Force Lightning. Even if teleportation didn't have the potential to be game-breaking, it would be out of character in all but the most extreme circumstances. Force Visions will be limited to either nonspecific premonitions or very brief glimpses of the past or future, only enough to start an investigation but not enough to give the entire circumstances. For example, he might get a flash of someone dying but either not how or not who killed them or someone killing someone but not who the victim is. He will still have his ability to use the Force to push through a normally debilitating injury but it will be worse after the longer he does so.
