CHARACTER APPLICATIONS

Application periods are open all month, every month.

The Final Fantasy VII Compilation cast is at cap, and FFVII Compilation apps are currently closed.

Please read all rules and guidelines before submitting an application. Be sure to check the Taken Characters list and the Retired Characters list before posting an application here.

NOTES:

1. After applying for a character, we ask that players allow 30 days before bringing their next character into the game. In some cases (warden or cast caps, upcoming major game events) players may approach the mod team and clear submitting an application a few days early, though it will not be approved before the 30 day mark.
   
   
2. If you are applying into an existing cast, please be aware that we may speak to players of characters close to (any version of) the character, and will speak to the players of canonmates of the character for which you are applying. We reserve the right to reject an application if it would render a current character or characters unplayable in the opinion of their player(s). If your app is rejected for this reason, we ask that you respect the decision.
   
   
3. Both samples may be taken from threads on the Test Drive Meme, as long as they are recent and match your application with respect to canonpoint and warden/inmate status. The TDM goes up once per month and is always marked on the Event Calendar. If you would prefer to write yours out and would like some inspiration, check out the Flood Event tag on the OOC community; you're welcome to write a sample based on your character's reaction after one of these events! Here are a few popular choices.
   
   
4. Canons (or canonpoints, in the case of ongoing series) must have been out for at least 30 days before they can be applied for.
   
   
5. If you're reapping a character that you previously dropped and you plan to have them retain their memories of their previous stint onboard, please include at least a few sentences discussing how their previous stay affected them, and noting any relevant changes to their personality, worldview, and motivations. The more significant the changes, the more detail we'd like.

INMATE APPLICATION FORM - CANON CHARACTERS

If your character is over 15 but under 18, please briefly explain why they are worthy of inmatehood despite their young age. <b>From When?:</b> At what point in their timeline were they brought aboard the Barge? Keep in mind that inmates must have just died, or were about to die. If your character has no canon death, or if you'd like to pull them from a point well before their canon death, you may headcanon a death that makes sense for the character/canon and doesn't require too many logical leaps or extra steps. Things like "My city-dwelling inmate was hit by a bus" or "My gangster inmate died in a gunfight" would be fine for a headcanoned death, as would "My character is in a life-threatening situation at their pull point that they canonically survive, but for the purposes of the game I'm going to say that they die instead". <b>Inmate Justification:</b> Why does your character require redemption? How can working with a warden on the Barge help them achieve this? Feel free to just give a brief general overview here; we're going to ask for specifics down below. <b>Arrival:</b> Was your inmate character brought in against their will, or did they agree to come to the Barge and graduate instead of dying forever? <b>Abilities/Powers:</b> Remember that Inmates will have reduced powers, with dangerous, offensive (as opposed to defensive), and combat-related abilities being removed entirely. Please tell us both what your character can do when their powers are at full strength, as well as what your proposed limits and reductions for them are. <b>Inmate Information:</b> Please lay out the most important things that your character's warden will need to know about them. Remember that permanent wardens will receive a file on their inmate's entire life story, and while we won't require you to write out a full history here (though we'll ask for at least a link to one elsewhere in the app), we'd like to hear about the highlights in your own words! Character Name: Marcus Wright
Series: Terminator Salvation and its comic continuation
Age: Two deaths

From When?: Ending of Terminator Salvation (Movie)

Inmate Justification:
(TW: Parent abuse, sibling death)

Marcus at the young age of 17 isn’t a religious man or even a good man but as he says “a stupid teenager at the age of 17.” He and his brother didn’t particularly have a great life. They saw their parents abuse them to a point but neglected to follow up on things. Marcus was the older brother of the two and in a dickheaded and stupid move, went with his brother, Sam to steal a car. Once they did it, his brother went to fight the cops in retaliation and ended up killing two of them. In retaliation, Marcus went to protect his brother only to find him dead. The man ended up paying for his brother’s crimes. More likely a “Wrong place, wrong time” crime.


Arrival: Marcus was instead brought in against his will, dying in a willingness of giving his heart to John Connor for a second chance. Only Marcus finds himself in the barge when his second heart is revived.

Abilities/Powers:

Marksman expert: Marcus is shown to be proficient with a gun as Kyle Reese points a gun at him only to have the gun flipped back on him by Marcus. He shows Kyle the technique of a sawed-off shotgun.


Mechanic: Marcus is handy with his fingers and is great with fixing and dissembling radios and cars for parts partway because of his criminal experience in a past life and knows his way around a car as well including hacking, live wiring one and fixing one.

Human-Cyborg Terminator Hybrid: Marcus has the best of both worlds in his body including a regeneration factor in his backup systems that allows him to regrow his heart more than once, except that regain is slower than usual. He can also regenerate his skin but it has a habit of flaking off at times.

Hacker: Marcus has the ability to hack computers and other important parts for information about things.

Inmate Information: (TW: Death row inmate, blood, sibling death, parent abuse etc,)

Marcus at his teenaged age about the age of 17, lived with his younger brother, Sam. His parents were never there and anger turned into rage as both of them for unknown reasons ran away from the home. Sam, the younger brother and Marcus lived a petty life of crime of carjacking for fun, and for cash. Through selfish reasoning, Sam encouraged Marcus to join him on a routine carjacking job. Except this went all wrong and Marcus was forced to pay the price for Sam’s crimes of killing two cops in his anger. In retaliation, Marcus fought back, only to be dragged to death row. Double Homicide was the price he had to pay for the price of two missing cops. The families demanded justice and so it was served in the form of Lethal injection. Marcus didn’t deny he did the crimes as he admitted to the woman, Dr Serena came in so he could sell his body at the form of a kiss.

Marcus forced down any feelings of blaming his dead brother and took on the blame on himself. He has a strong sense of justice.

During his second life, he woke up to a deranged version of 2018 in a post-apocalyptic Earth to a world full of Terminators and a Skynet-controlled Earth with humans fighting back as a Cyborg hybrid. The first people he meets end up becoming his friends. Kyle Reese and Star, the last part of the Los Angeles Resistance against Skynet, a sentient Artificial intelligence planning to wipe out the remaining human survivors after nuclear missiles hit the Earth. With that, Marcus learns to deal with two teenagers until he tries to find a way back home but he never does as he loses the two to a Harvester on the way to a “work camp”

Instead, he finds a Resistance pilot named Blair Williams which he falls in love with eventually. She sees him as more than a human and a human instead of a terminator. Things only change when he meets John Connor, which serves as an antagonistic man to Marcus at the time. John Connor is the current Captain of Tech-Com and almost the leader of the Human Resistance. He captures Marcus and puts him in a nuclear silo. Blair recuses him and takes the place of Marcus in capture.

She loves him and wants to see him survive.

Marcus is still unaware that he’s being used by both sides but more by Skynet, who’s a sentient AI figure, who takes the form of who he likes and tells him his job is to kill John Connor but he ends up refusing to do that even though he was close to doing so anyway as Skynet set a trap for the Resistance in the form of a flash drive with clues on how to deactivate the machines.

As Marcus and John go to rescue Kyle and Star, a T-800 was sent to kill John as Marcus gets in John’s way and gets knocked out while John fights the T-800.

As this happens, a giant metal pole gets thrown into John’s body as Marcus rips it out and sliced the T-800’s head off in relataltion.

Marcus decides to give his second chance to John as the form of his heart to save John’s life. As Marcus “dies”, he’s dragged to the barge against his will, but in reality, his heart is regrowing at the time.

Path to Redemption:

Marcus is a tough guy as he is stubborn and almost refuses to change himself, unless someone he knows is hurt or bad memories of his brother is brought up.

Marcus is also quiet most of the time and his anger can boil over easily. He’s loyal to a fault and self-sacrificial to those he gives crap about. He’s gone to calm to angry in a few seconds flat and he’s hard to calm down as a terminator unless he finishes his objective off. But when he’s calm, he’s funny, and gives off a sensitive vibe and can get along with a select few that gain his trust.

Marcus needs time to process his own guilt over his brother’s death, being pulled in a war he didn’t belong in between John Connor and Skynet and also needs to figure out how to adjust to new situations without being frustrated.

He also has known anger issues that stem over emotional issues and being used by Skyne.

Marcus needs to think through things before he does as he hurts the ones he most loves by doing them. He donates his heart casually without thinking to John Connor when the woman he loves, Blair sees the value in him living a human life along with Kyle and Star as a new family of his.

[The cyborg tenses up and sighs.]

“Blair, I’m sorry but this is my second chance.”

[Marcus seems to be thinking and saying out loud what he thinks he should do while lying on his cot.]

[However, something was bothering him somehow as drips hit the floor, loudly.]

Marcus looked up and frowned. Now there was no way to save Connor or stop Skynet. But he was too worried about helping both sides that he never took the time to decide for himself

Marcus was in the wrong mood and when he was in that wrong mood, certain things set him off at times.

The inmate stared him down the wrong way and grinned “What, you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Uh hello? You look like you’ve been through-

Marcus didn’t give him time to respond as the inmate showed his own weapon. “Come on, tough guy. You think you can take me?”

The cyborg never responded and grabbed the inmate and stalked ever close to the inmate who dared to threaten him as he cracked his neck back and forth as the inmate never stopped grinning as the inmate threw a stab. Another man shot the inmate’s leg and made the cyborg turn his cold eyes to the man in the room. Marcus dropped the items in question and frowned “I could handle this.”

“Didn’t you hear, he said enough?!”

Marcus growled, “Fuck that.”

Marcus was thinking more like a machine than a man at that moment as he could eerily still be working for Skynet but a shake quickly reminded Marcus that he wasn’t a machine but a man.
