CHARACTER APPLICATIONS

Application periods are open all month, every month.

The Final Fantasy VII Compilation cast is at cap, and FFVII Compilation apps are currently closed.

Please read all rules and guidelines before submitting an application. Be sure to check the Taken Characters list and the Retired Characters list before posting an application here.

NOTES:

1. After applying for a character, we ask that players allow 30 days before bringing their next character into the game. In some cases (warden or cast caps, upcoming major game events) players may approach the mod team and clear submitting an application a few days early, though it will not be approved before the 30 day mark.
   
   
2. If you are applying into an existing cast, please be aware that we may speak to players of characters close to (any version of) the character, and will speak to the players of canonmates of the character for which you are applying. We reserve the right to reject an application if it would render a current character or characters unplayable in the opinion of their player(s). If your app is rejected for this reason, we ask that you respect the decision.
   
   
3. Both samples may be taken from threads on the Test Drive Meme, as long as they are recent and match your application with respect to canonpoint and warden/inmate status. The TDM goes up once per month and is always marked on the Event Calendar. If you would prefer to write yours out and would like some inspiration, check out the Flood Event tag on the OOC community; you're welcome to write a sample based on your character's reaction after one of these events! Here are a few popular choices.
   
   
4. Canons (or canonpoints, in the case of ongoing series) must have been out for at least 30 days before they can be applied for.
   
   
5. If you're reapping a character that you previously dropped and you plan to have them retain their memories of their previous stint onboard, please include at least a few sentences discussing how their previous stay affected them, and noting any relevant changes to their personality, worldview, and motivations. The more significant the changes, the more detail we'd like.

If your character is over 15 but under 18, please briefly explain why they are worthy of inmatehood despite their young age. <b>From When?:</b> At what point in their timeline were they brought aboard the Barge? Keep in mind that inmates must have just died, or were about to die. If your character has no canon death, or if you'd like to pull them from a point well before their canon death, you may headcanon a death that makes sense for the character/canon and doesn't require too many logical leaps or extra steps. Things like "My city-dwelling inmate was hit by a bus" or "My gangster inmate died in a gunfight" would be fine for a headcanoned death, as would "My character is in a life-threatening situation at their pull point that they canonically survive, but for the purposes of the game I'm going to say that they die instead". <b>Inmate Justification:</b> Why does your character require redemption? How can working with a warden on the Barge help them achieve this? Feel free to just give a brief general overview here; we're going to ask for specifics down below. <b>Arrival:</b> Was your inmate character brought in against their will, or did they agree to come to the Barge and graduate instead of dying forever? <b>Abilities/Powers:</b> Remember that Inmates will have reduced powers, with dangerous, offensive (as opposed to defensive), and combat-related abilities being removed entirely. Please tell us both what your character can do when their powers are at full strength, as well as what your proposed limits and reductions for them are. <b>Inmate Information:</b> Please lay out the most important things that your character's warden will need to know about them. Remember that permanent wardens will receive a file on their inmate's entire life story, and while we won't require you to write out a full history here (though we'll ask for at least a link to one elsewhere in the app), we'd like to hear about the highlights in your own words! This should include any serious crimes committed, details about the harm they've done to others, and major life events and how they were affected by them. Series: Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan and The Old Republic supplemented by Knights of the Old Republic
Age: Appears to be in his mid-thirties, actually around 300-ish
From When?: After he dies as in Shadows of Revan

Inmate/Warden: Warden. He's been a hero and a villain. He knows both sides of the coin and has, with help, come back himself and brought his wife back from the Dark Side.
Item: his lightsaber

Abilities/Powers: Revan has a very strong ability with telekinesis and telepathy, able to incapacitate someone psychically, communicate across the galay, or pull down meteors if the need arises. He has been known to use Force Lightning at need. He can use the Force to help him endure wounds which would disable most people and keep fighting. He developed a way to teleport small distances but can only use it under the direst circumstances. He is prone to Force visions, especially while sleeping. He was also good with mechanics and programming, designing and building several models of battle droids.

Personality: Revan is first and foremost a man of deep commitment. Much like Darth Vader many millenia later, Revan's relationships are both his greatest strength and a weakness. He will make any sacrifice to protect his family and anyone he believes he has a duty toward. Most of the time, he has the wisdom to recognize that sacrifice must come from himself or willing participants alone, although that wisdom was learned the hard way.

While he has largely overcome the guilt of it, he still bears the aftermath of his tactics during the Mandalorian War. He now refuses to use large, general attacks, preferring specifically targeted attacks instead to minimize the damage and bloodshed. This generally continues on the interpersonal level. He would much rather deal with a specific problem than completely crush the other person needlessly. That being said, he holds himself personally responsible for the fate of at least one friend who followed him into the war and experienced severe trauma during the final battle.

He is very charismatic and a natural leader, easily earning others' loyalty. He also returns that loyalty and does his best lead well. His sense of humor enhances this as do his abilities as a gifted, cunning tactician. He maintains at least the appearance of strength to all except his closest friends. He does not back down once he sets himself a task. He is willing, one might even say eager, to use himself as a diversion for his allies' benefit.

During the Mandalorian War, he renamed himself "Revan", the name he used for the rest of his life, after confirming the truth of the Cathar genocide. Given that the name comes from the title Revanchist, it can be inferred to mean either revenge or reclamation. This illustrates Revan's keen sense of justice and his compassion as does his very involvement in the Mandalorian War. He cannot just sit back and do nothing while innocents are dying or otherwise being mistreated.

Revan has a very unusual sense of humor. It tends toward dark and gallows humor. It would be easy to misinterpret as him insulting someone instead of doing an impression of someone else's quirks. He found HK-47's use of "meatbag" funny enough to program the droid to use the term about all flesh and blood beings while turned to the Dark Side but continues to find it amusing even as a Jedi once again.

Barge Reactions: Revan is used to beings of other species and beliefs. That will not alarm or otherwise bother him. Some floods will likely bother him more than breaches. Floods such as verbal barf floods will likely remind him of how Vitiate dominated his mind to turn him against his own country. Breaches and floods such as a deaging flood will bother him some but they will likely remind him more of having his identity rewritten by the Jedi as a way to stop him without killing him. Seeing as he will regain his normal memories immediately after, those will bother him even less.

Deal: His deal will be the protection of the Republic against Vitiate and the Sith Empire.

How often does our future mirror our past? When I was young, the Jedi Archivists said that to forget the past was to relive it. That's why they record every bit of history meticulously.

It's hard not to wonder all it is you've forgotten. Is it worth chasing it to find out what warning the past tries to give you? Even when it ends possibly even worse than the first time?

[Revan turns his head, his face catching the light to show just how much sleep he hasn't been getting.]

Sample RP: Anyone coming in the room will find Revan in a pile of droid parts. He has no need for an assassin droid here but he misses his old creation's sense of humor. He picks up a soldering iron and fuses a couple wires together.
The chassis is half finished. This little patrol droid will be perfect for the prison ship. It's not about expecting violence, not really. The patrol droid is just a precaution in case of accidents as much as attacks. He holds the wires up to the leg, measuring them with a sure eye. He smiles in satisfaction. He fastens them in place with a clip. He hums a jaunty tune quietly to himself as he assembles a small motor around the knee joint. It's a Mandalorian song he learned from Canderous about a warlord and his various conquests.
"Here you go, little meatbag-lover," he murmurs with a smirk as he wrestles with the last small piece. "Almost ready to walk. Be a good droid for your dad, now, and just. Fit. In. Place."
